OMNITROPE is a human growth hormone containing the active substance called somatropin, obtained by the bacterial microorganism E.coli using the method called recombinant DNA technology. Its structure is the same as that of natural human growth hormone, which is essential for the growth of bones and muscles. It also helps the fat and muscle tissues to grow in the right amounts. Recombinant means it is not obtained from human or animal tissues.
OMNITROPE is used in the following cases:
Infants, children and adolescents;
If you have a growth disorder caused by insufficient growth hormone, if you have a Tumer syndrome. Tumer syndrome is a hereditary disorder that can affect growth in girls and your doctor should have told you if you have this condition.
If you have chronic renal failure. If the kidneys cannot function properly, this may affect growth.
If you have Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS; some kind of chromosomal disease). If you are still growing, OMNITROPE can help you and also regulate your body composition (the distribution of substances in your body). Excess fat in your body will disappear and your reduced muscle mass will develop.
If your birth weight is too low or you are born too young. The growth hormone will make your neck grow longer if you do not achieve normal growth until or after 4 years of age.
In adults;
It is used in the treatment of significant growth hormone deficiency that begins in childhood or adolescence.
If you have received OMNITROPE treatment in childhood due to lack of growth hormone, your growth hormone level will be re-examined after your growth stops. If you are found to have severe growth hormone deficiency, your doctor will recommend that you continue your OMNITROPE treatment.
