Each film-coated tablet is provided in blister packs of 100 tablets containing 1000 mg of metformin hydrochloride. GLIFOR is a white, oblong, biconvex tablet with one side notched and 1000 written on the other.
GLIFOR belongs to a group of drugs called oral antidiabetics (biguanides). Such drugs are used to treat diabetes (diabetes) and to prevent the development of diabetes in patients with obese glucose tolerance disorder. Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas and circulated to the body, allowing your body to absorb blood glucose (sugar). Your body uses glucose to produce energy or stores it for future use. If you have diabetes, your pancreas does not produce enough insulin or your body cannot use the insulin produced regularly. This causes high levels of glucose in your blood.
GLIFOR helps to reduce the level of glucose in your blood to as normal as possible. GLIFOR is used to treat patients with overweight type 2 diabetes (a type of diabetes called insulin-independent diabetes), where diet and exercise alone are insufficient to control blood sugar levels.
